How does the process look like?
1. Application
First of all you have to fill in the application form.
2. Assessment Talk and Intercultural Learning Seminar
We want to check if you are a person that is open for others and well able to integrate itself in a foreign country. So we just have a little talk to find out what person you are and get to know each other. After you pass the Assessment Talk you will be invited to an Intercultural Learning Seminar. This event will prepare you for your internship abroad, you will get further information about AIESEC and sign the neccessary forms/terms and conditions.
3. Fee
The Fee of 350 € is made up as follows:
- 150 € Exchange (administration, organisation of your internship, ongoing contact to your company and AIESEC entity abroad, etc.)
- 75 € Database (for your entry and the matching process)
- 75 € ICLS (InterCultural Learning Seminar, a preparation before your stay)
- 50 € Deposit (will be repaid if you write a report of your internship)
Because all members of AIESEC work voluntarily we can keep down the cost. The Database is managed by an external company and AIESEC does NOT earn money through the process.
4. Database
We will help you then to upload a personal form of yours to our online database including a CV, academic references, relevant skills and regions and areas in which you would like to work.
5. Search for an internship
Have a look on our internship programmes online and choose the internship which meets your expectations. Should these offered internships not suit, you can get access to our database which upholds more than 15.000 internships in general.
What if I cannot find a suitable AIESEC internship?
If you are unable to find an internship which caters to your expectations you can get a refund. However, once attended, you cannot get a refund the expenses for your ICLS, since the money is only enough to cover the costs you generate as an applicant. Also, the entry into our database is completed then already and cannot be refunded.
6. Application for an internship
If you have found an interesting job description you start to get in contact with AIESECers or companies in that foreign country via email. You introduce yourself and indicate interest. Hopefully, they will invite you to a skype call, which is then part Assessment Center part getting to know each other. Of course, your language and communication skills are being ckecked! So be polite and use the time to get important questions answered.
7. Acceptance Notes
If both sides feel comfortable after the call, acceptance notes are being signed. You bind yourself to go on that internship and the company/NGO binds itself to YOU as their intern.
8. Preparations for your stay
DON’T FORGET to organize the visa, flight, credit card, insurance etc. – Our OGX Team will give you advice.
9. Start
After these steps you are ready to take off. Local AIESEC members will pick you up at the airport, organize accommodation and support you during your stay.
10. After returning and reintegration
We are interested in what experiences you gained and therefore kindly ask you to write a report or make a presentation about your stay abroad. Afterwards, your deposit will be paid back.
We will invite you to one of our Welcome Back! evenings where all interns can share the experiences they have made abroad.
